Sivil House & Rooftop

Tower Hamlets | Ref 17176

Sivill House was designed and completed in 1962 in the Constructivist style by Douglas Bailey, Francis Skinner and Berthold Lubetkin. The nearby Dorset Estate was also designed by the same team.

Sivill House is a 76-flat council housing block on Columbia Road in Bethnal Green. The building has 19-storeys, at a total height of 59 metres. The block itself has a beautiful concrete-panelled facade. At its heart is a spiral staircase and each floor has four flats, all of which are triple aspect and with a balcony. At the back is an open area car park and to the side of the building features a nice grassy area.

The rooftop looks out over London as far as Battersea Power Station, Wembley Stadium, Alexandra Palace, Canary Wharf and the City of London.
