Tower Hamlets | Ref 3154

Tower Hamlets Local History Library & Archives is a working Library and open on Tuesdays (10am - 5pm), Wednesday (9am - 5pm), Thursday (9am - 8pm) and Saturdays (9am - 5pm) - first & third Saturday of the month only. It offers a fantastic library backdrop - spacious pillared foyer, reading/archive room, bookcases, desks, rooftop views and ornate, period features and fittings throughout - the perfect setting for your filming.

The history library is housed in a grade II listed building (formerly The Bancroft Road Library), constructed in 1860. Redevelopment has seen this magnificent building restored to its former glory with original features and fittings retained, and seen the spacious foyer given a facelift and now the perfect setting for filming and exhibitions. There is a fantastic spacious reading room and the final phase of redevelopment will restore and renovate the period features of the large first floor rooms. On completion new toilets, new staircase and refurbished seminar room and offices with disabled access with complete the planned Heritage Centre.
